(verified owner)When the US proprietary version of this medication, Provigil was first released my Neuropsychiatrist at that time who many considered to be among us the most innovative and brilliant in this country prescribe this medication for my depression as an improved version of Wellbutrin. At least that was my experience based on my previous responses to bupropion. I’m not sure to this day the expert still know exactly how and why this medication does what it does. I can say that with regards to the treatment of my depression it was also prescribed by New York Presbyterian when I traveled up there to get some inpatient help for the same purpose.
The actual studies on its efficacy for the treatment of depression and bipolar depression have had mixed results. it would take more research to determine how effective it is for those treatments overall and I’m not sure there’s much motivation now that it’s available in a generic version.
This is a good medication and having had extensive experience with the name brand product I can state in all honesty that this is a bio equivalent and quality manufactured product. I’ve also been treated with Nuvigil equivalent doses but personally prefer the effects of this racemic version dosed three times a day. This particular product is scored for easy splitting for anyone that needs to titrate their dose carefully, something else that I appreciate. People that are looking for this product specifically are probably already well familiar of is potential benefits and applications. I think wiki gives a pretty objective and thorough summary.
